WOMAN OF THE WEEK: SHERYL SANDBERG
Facebook’s chief operating officer Sheryl Sandberg has become the first woman to be appointed to the social networking company’s board of directors.
But she still goes home at 5.30pm every day.
Sandberg, who previously worked for the United States Treasury Department and Google, is fiercely passionate about work/life balance and devotes time to mentoring female executives and speaking publicly about the specific hurdles faced by women in business.
She recently spoke out about how she effectively manages and defends her time, revealing ”I walk out of this office every day at 5.30 so I’m home for dinner with my kids at 6.”
As Chief Operating Officer, Sheryl Sandberg is charged with overseeing Facebook’s business operations including sales, marketing, business development, legal, human resources, public policy and communications.
And if looking after one of the biggest websites in the world wasn’t enough, Sheryl also serves on the boards of The Walt Disney Co. and of groups such as Women for Women International.

I love that she says “if you are going to marry a man, marry the right one”. One that changes half the nappies and does more than pay lip service to supporting your career.
