It has always been so.

Lessons in compassion and forgiveness come from the most unexpected places. Where we expect feral hatred and blame to take hold on barren ground?

Somehow gentle love flourishes and blooms. In the rocky places…we find flowers.

A random nuzzle from a kicked and abused stray dog on the street corner; a grizzly, homeless face that rears its head in your stairwell to wish you a hoary “good morning”, and yes, even a smile from a traffic cop who cheerily waves you on.

These small, everyday gestures lift our shabby, weary hearts.
