Reading the Daily Fail, Gee? Why am I not surprised. Dude, you should go have a read of the National Enquirer next.
"Add the current ‘invasion’ rhetoric that is filling our young Aboriginals with such hate and we have a cocktail for disaster." Ah Gee dude, not only was it an invasion, but also a genocide. Are you on crack? Hateful little bloke. - Sandy
Well said Kev! - Matilda
Thanks for your work over the years Anne. Thanks for the inspiration. Keep up the good work :) - neeter
I wonder how many takes Pitt needed for that ad. - Jane
Joni you're absolutely right. Anyone in the Social Science industry should be trained specifically to deal with these problems. They have no real perspective on the reality of our situations or what a nightmare our lives are. We are the parents of kids who are falling through the system, and at best, we as the mother's are looked upon as hysterical and unable to cope. Well, the fact is we do get hysterical simply because just coping is all we have. If it were an adult male treating their families like this there is a system in place where anyone can get the help they need......so the question is, why does the simple fact that this is coming from our children make our situations any less horrendous. To me, it makes it much worse specifically because it's coming from our children. - Tracey
Great article Anne. The problem as I see it is that women must demand respect in order to obtain it. Unfortunately women's perceived inferiority which flows into a lack of confidence is so entrenched within themselves that it's a whole Catch 22 situation. We've all seen/worked with/been governed by men who were so incompetent, lazy and dopey that it would make your eyes bleed. We've all said "I could do a better job than him with one hand tied behind my back" but without the self confidence to go ahead and be ready to be as inept as some blokes are at their jobs, we're in a real bind. It doesn't help that we live in a world where only men's strengths are seen as worthy and women's strengths are never given a run or a voice. If women's strengths were let out into the sunlight and appreciated, women would gain enormous ground. This is why men like Gee get hot under the collar at stuff like Emily's List. Any steps forward for women, he perceives as his loss and he's probably already pretty far down on the totem pole of life. He doesn't want to lose any more power to the wimminz. - Sandy
When I was in my 20's I spotted two "little old ladies" at the bus stop. Both wrinkly, but one with the type of mouth that droops down at the corners, and one that could have been a poster girl for "sweet little old lady". Her wrinkles made her mouth look like a constant sweet smile. Ever since, if I find myself frowning I remember them, and aim always to smile so my wrinkles will point my mouth in the right direction when I get to that point. Happy to have wrinkles, just want to make sure they are smiley wrinkles! - Jen
Coco you make me laugh. I have a couple of king size singles in my house as well as a double foam mattress which can be put on the floor. I might have to adjust my house rules for certain elements of my community~ I mean, get stricter~ no orgasms after 10pm~ before that I will have the telly on loud, and before you leave, chuck sheets in washing machine and clean and pick up after yourselves?!! Oh yes, and don't wear strong perfume inside my house~ it makes me sneeze and go a bit breathless. For this opportunity I do not ask for money. - ro.watson
I just find it depressing that in the 21st century people still believe in religion. There is no god, there is no allah, there's just us. - Kev
Jeez people, relax! I'm sure the letter was meant to be a little on the humorous side and, if not, just take it like that anyway, an amusing read. - Rose
