Thanks for the link janes. Lived through the Thatcher era.. It was disgusting, although I did enjoy the Poll Tax demonstrations they were a riot. - JG
And Gina wasn't spoilt as a child? I saw a documentary on her last year and I can assure you Gina wanted for nothing - Daddy's little angel. - Maggie
Hear, hear John. Close her mines!
Btw, speaking of Julia Gillard, can anyone tell me why she was constantly called "Liar" but Abbort is not? Is it ok and expected that men lie, but women mustn't? He lies through his teeth, seems to take pleasure in it, and yet he is not really confronted with his obvious duplicity. Are we latte sipping, leafy suburban intellectuals too polite to scream "Liar!"? - Neroli
Thanks Mathew Berryman for spotting the difference. Here's to women of all colours who have done good things for all and here's to bad women of all colours who have owned and atoned (for) their bad judgement.

Luke Mansillo has written a detailed piece in the Guardian outlining why Australia doesn’t want to become Thatcher’s England.
(There is a definite relevance to this Hoopla article & scary echo to Abbott Govt’s actions so far.)
The title says it all.
“Gina Rinehart wants Australian Thatcherism – but do we want to become northern England?”
(NOTE – Luke Mansillo is a member of the Labor Party) - janes
Hoopla - Have posted above in wrong thread. I will post in Gina thread as well. - janes

P.S. And if she has enough sticks and stones thrown at her, she'll probably find a way to mine them. - Sandy Gandhi
Yes I do listen to my gut/intuition - more and more research is telling us there is a strong brain gut connection. iBS sufferers know how their emotions - esp anxiety/butterflies in the stomach - affect their digestion/gut. (As an aside, I think psychics just act on their intuition/gut i.e. skills at reading non verbal communications - google cold readings). However I also use my brain, do my research and judge whether I may be seeing things askew due to my own prejudices or/and fears. What about the whole recovered memories disaster in which thousands of people world wide have been accused of sex abuse etc, often based on 'memories' apparently completely repressed for decades and gut feel (he's a bit of a sleaze/I don't like him thus he is guilty)? Many cases have been reversed and therapists sued. The principles of justice and evidence should not be thrown out - listen to your gut and emotions but use your brain too. Please. - Me
No one has a greater sense of entitlement than Gina.
Entitled to dig up whatever she wants wherever she wants, cos she's a miner so Australia belongs to her.
Entitled to pay workers whatever she deems appropriate, cos she gives the bludgers jobs.
Entitled to pay no tax , cos she provides job and is like rich'n'all.
She thinks those with the most money should be the ones in charge. - David
Sexual longing is fertile territory for writers, but few writers could tackle the socially taboo subject of an older male teacher and a young student with the finesse that author Kate Belle does. The Yearning is about much more than sexual or emotional desire… Human beings yearn for many things – financial security, stability, and
